"This is one of the questions we get
most often - how come you advertise 398,000 numbers and your
competitors seem to have between 500,000 and 1.2m?", Ben
states.
"The truth is that we don't know where
they get their numbers from. We're not suggesting that there is
anything wrong with them, but there does seem to be something
wrong with the numbers.
"There are only around 800,000 trading
limited companies and PLCs in the UK, our data suppliers tell us.
We have nearly 750,000 on our database, but just over 350,000 are
on the Fax Preference Service. You can't fax them - full stop.
We also have bought over 400,000 fax numbers
where we, after checking, can't verify whether they are limited
companies or PLCs - so we can't send to them", Ben continues.
Be very careful that the company you
choose knows for definite that all their numbers are either
limited companies or PLCs and not on the Fax Preference Service.
As well as wasting up to half your
campaign spend sending to sole traders and partnerships, each slip
could result in a fine of up to £5.000.
Make sure your choose a firm, like Meridian
Delta, which uses reputable and traceable data companies or you
could be throwing your money down the drain.
