We get a lot of questions about UK FaxDisc, and we have listed some of the most frequently occuring ones below. If your question is not answered here, why not get in touch with us? Click here for our contact page.
Where does the data come from?
The data contained on the UK FaxDisc is the database used by one of the leading UK fax broadcasters, Meridian Delta. It is an active and current database, with over 200,000 company records including fax number, company name, line of business, company size and area. There is a search program included with the UK FaxDisc, and by using that, you can pinpoint exactly the type of companies you need to speak with.

Why is Meridian Delta offering this data for sale?
There is no particular commercial advantage to Meridian Delta keeping this data to itself. The data cost a lot of money to accumulate over a number of years, and probably represents the most complete UK fax directory for limited companies and PLCs. Meridian Delta is a fax broadcaster, however it only accepts work where the customer orders 10,000 or more faxes in one month. As this is too high a figure for most small-to-medium sized enterprises, it chooses to make its data available to these organisations in a do-it-yourself format.

Are there telephone numbers included in the data?
Unfortunately, no. This is a database used by a fax broadcaster, so the only information contained in a record is company name, fax number, line of business (description and SIC), postal code, and area (postcode). There are no telephone numbers, no decision maker names, no addresses and no email addresses with the records.

Is there a limit to how much I can use the data?
No. The data on the disc is licensed to you forever to sell your own products and services direct to business.

Can I use this data to become a fax broadcaster myself?
No.

Doesn't fax broadcasting upset some people?
Yes. But thankfully, very few. Maybe 1 or 2 per 10,000 will be motivated enough to call you to complain. Compared with email and telephone marketing, the complaints barely register.

What do I do if someone complains?
You have a right, enshrined by law, to send marketing faxes to limited companies and PLCs not registered with the Fax Preference Service. By law, you must operate an opt-out list. If someone does call to complain, take their number from them and delete it from the program.

How come the data is being sold at such a low price?
Meridian Delta believes that the current asking price is fair, considering that most companies will only use a small amount of the data on the disc. The average user of the product will send to no more than 5,000 or 6,000 of the numbers as the recipients chosen will have the highest likelihood of buying our customer's products.

What sort of response can I expect from fax broadcasting?
This depends on how well you target your audience primarily. But most companies seem to do rather well as they know who will be interested in what they're offering. We ask customers to expect a response similar to one-quarter to one-third of what they'd get from a mailshot. Of course, as faxing costs up to 10 times less than mailshots, that means that it costs you a third of what it would cost to get a new lead or sale by mailshots.

On what are the telephone rates on this site based?
They are based on the telephone rates of the median least-cost-routing provider. We can put you in touch with a number of companies to reduce your faxing call costs even further.

On this site you quote 159K+ working numbers. Can't you be more exact?
The figures for how many numbers are functioning and are not on the FPS fluctuate daily. There are actually nearly 360,000 numbers we could provide on UK FaxDisc, however some may no longer be working. The vast majority of the "missing" numbers will be FPS registered. The latest figure we have for functioning, non-FPS numbers is circa 159,000.
