| The UK Fax Disc has been an important offering to
customers since 2003. It's helped save our customers
money and through our own bad times has helped save
the company. Read below to find out how the product
was developed, how customers reacted to it and how,
due to falling collection of fax numbers and the
rise of the FPS, the product was retired. |
| |
|
June 2002 |
| As with all other fax marketing companies, half our time went
into producing searches for customers which produced very low
results. It was economic for us to provide these really small
broadcasts due to the set-up time involved. We were looking for
a way to help customers still use fax marketing but include the
customers we couldn't previously work with due to invoice value. |
 |
|
November 2002 |
| The idea for the UK Fax Disc was born. Originally, we wanted to
make it an all-in-one product. You could search for the data you
were after and it would link into a fax server that was built
into the program. In the end, that proved too complicated - the
UK Fax Disc ended up being a simple search-and-find program with
FPS updates.. |
 |
|
March 2003 |
| After months of data buying and putting together the
back-end of the program, the UK Fax Marketing Kit is launched,
offering 150,000+ fax numbers for UK businesses on a CD-ROM,
bundled together with Winfax. |
 |
|
September 2003 |
| As word catches on, the UK Fax Marketing Kit, now renamed the UK
Fax Disc, starts to gather sales momentum and customers come to
us in record numbers. Customer support calls reach 10-20 a day
and Endeverus (the former main name of Meridian Delta and
soon to make a comeback as our data sales arm) realises it
has a hit on its hands. |
 |
|
February 2004 |
| This is the very peak of the UK Fax Disc's sales boom - over 120
new customers a month for the product. Support calls fly in and
we have trouble coping with the popularity. New staff are taken
on to cope with the demand for support and the increased demand
for our wider marketing services. |
 |
|
November 2004 |
| As with many other marketing companies, we'd
pretty much fully migrated from fax marketing to email
marketing after it looked like faxing was dying. Around this
time, email marketing
responsiveness fell dramatically which adversely affected the
business. It was thanks to UK Fax Disc sales that we got through
2004 in one piece. |
 |
|
January 2005 |
| After the slump of mid-to-late-2004, we moved quickly back into fax
marketing bureau services (where we send your faxes off rather
than the DIY approach). UK Fax Disc fall as
customers moved back to the managed service. |
 |
|
May 2008 |
| Sales of the UK Fax Disc had been dropping for years - down from
a heady 1,000 in 2004 to less than 50 in 2007. We tried to
revive the product with a big purchase of data to include on the
disc. It didn't really work that well and we'll probably never
get back the money we spent, however, as with everything is
business, nothing is certain.. |
 |
|
December 2008 |
| The UK Fax Disc found 11 new customers for Meridian Delta in
2008. Although the bureau service was doing really well and had reached
send-out levels last seen back in 2004, it now cost more to provide
FPS sweeping for UK Fax Disc customers than we got in new and repeat
customers. |
 |
|
March 2009 |
| Regretfully, we
decided to start the process of retiring the product as it was
no longer financial viable. One year's notice is given to the
small band of existing customers using it. In March 2010, it
will disappear from the website. |

|
Thank you! |
| To all 3,000+ customers past and present, thanks for buying the
product and helping us develop it. |
