I'm about the buy the UK Fax Disc. What level of accuracy can
I expect? |
| The disc has not been updated since March 2008. Fax numbers tend
to decay at a rate of 25% per annum. This means that, in March
2009, a deliverability rate of 119,000 should be expected. In
March 2010, this will shrink to 89,000 and by March 2011, this
will be at around 67,000. |
 |
|
As more and more companies add themselves to the Fax
Preference Service (FPS), are these estimated figure realistic? |
| That depends on the level of new subscribers. The figures quoted
in the above answer assume no more additions to the FPS. In our
experience of faxing, a level of 50,000 faxable numbers on the
disc in March 2011 would be a more accurate guess. |
 |
|
I bought the disc back in late 2004 when there were more than
300,000 numbers on it. Why the shrinkage? |
| Mainly the FPS. Another major factor is the lack of willingness
for companies, when phoned, to volunteer their fax number. This
trend has grown substantially over the last 5 years. In 2004, we
had over 700,000 fax numbers we could send to with our bureau
service - this is now closer to 250,000. |
 |
|
Why are there more numbers you can fax out to on customers'
behalves than you can include on the UK Fax Disc? |
| That's down to ownership. The numbers you get on the UK Fax Disc
are Meridian Delta's. The other numbers that are part of the
bureau service belong to other companies. We can use their data
on your fax campaigns, but we can't pass them on to you
afterwards nor include them on the UK Fax Disc. |
 |
|
Will there be an UK Email Disc to replace the UK Fax Disc? |
| Marketing is moving on, and email is definitely replacing faxing
as a main route to market. Meridian Delta can not put together a
UK Email Disc formula without the co-operation of the market and
that is not currently forthcoming due to the present inflated
value of email data. |

After March 2010, what will I do for FPS sweeping? |
| Unfortunately, we won't be able to provide that anymore. Please

about how to stay FPS-complaint. |
